Cleat Hitch
Every boater needs to be able to tie a proper cleat hitch. We depend on this knot to keep our boats safely secured to a dock or to tied to another boat. Tying the cleat hitch correctly ensures that it will stay tied and will be easy to untie. The American Sailing Association has provided a short, easy to understand video that provides instructions for tying a proper cleat hitch.
Other Knots
There are knots in addition to the cleat hitch that are very useful to boaters. Knowing how to tie them properly can help us boat more safely. Knots such as the bowline, clove hitch and rolling hitch are among the most useful, particularly to our T-BART members. Easy to use instructions for tying these knots can be found at www.animatedknots.com
