Frequently Asked Questions:

  1. When are these changes be made?

These changes will begin in January of 2026 and slowly be changed throughout the next couple of months.

  1. Why are we changing the status? It’s always worked.

The new status categories will properly reflect the actual current appropriate status of all members as individual circumstances change. It will aid Ops in planning for coverage of the schedule and overall availability of captains and crew.

  1. Why Change them now?

You may be aware that for the first time in our history (or recorded memory) that we had to scratch/reduce lake coverage in several instances in April and May of this year due to lack of capt/crew. Knowing the real number of members actively signing up for duty and available at any point in time has become increasingly critical. This will also help Ops determine when we are under or over staffed and adjust recruiting appropriately so we can reliably staff boats year-round to fulfill T-BART’s mission.

  1. How does this impact me?

  • If you are actively signing up on the schedule, then you are now considered “Active On Water” and that’s it.
  • If you are recovering from a surgery, illness or other event that prevents you from signing up, then you should request from your PGM to be moved to “Personal Leave” until such time that you are able to return to the schedule.
  • If you are no longer signing up on the schedule then you may request to be moved to Alumni or have a conversation with your PGM explaining your situation to help determine where you best fit.
  • If you are currently in Support and on either the Ops team or Board, support on-water training, perform an advisory role, or other ongoing support role then you will be considered Active Support
  • All other members in the Support status will now be moved to Alumni.

  1. What is this new Alumni status?

In the past, when a T-BART member decided to leave the organization for any reason, they were removed from the MDL. Their memory and support was only in the memories of those who knew them. Alumni provides a record of all past members and honors those who helped build and strengthen the organization with their service.

  1. Do Alumni owe dues?

No, Alumni are not required to pay dues. Donations are always appreciated so if you choose to donate at any time, please feel free.

  1. Will Alumni receive Bratfest tickets to sell?

Alumni will not be expected to sell Bratfest tickets. If you prefer to assist by selling tickets and wish to receive an allotment to sell, please contact your PGM.
